Harley Hamilton's training in architecture and the building trades provides the basis for the practices thinking and methods. Context is the force that spurs the process with charged conditions that are met with an attention to balancing the disparate input and responding in the simplest language.

After studying architecture at RMIT, Harley sought work in the crafts and trades with the intention of garnering greater understanding of material dexterity and constraints and designing across scales and disciplines. Alongside employment in architectural offices Harley has worked in residential and commercial construction, produced sculpture for a renowned Australian artist, worked in furniture production and as a cabinet maker/joiner. Harley Hamilton Studio was established in 2018.
