This interlocking bed base is an attempt to enliven the more mundane moments of the everyday. The pattern finds its rhythm in the offbeat mess of the Victorian open woodlands, where dry grass is punctuated by fallen branches and repeated elements form an ever-changing sea. Each piece of timber inlay is different, cut and set into the substrate by hand. Although the edge of the bed is seen and serves as a bedside shelf, the whole of the pattern is only experienced in the privacy of domestic duties, finding cause for pause when a mattress is flipped. But perhaps too the soporific knowledge that you lay on a bed of grass will be a simple joy for you to keep.
